Francesco Molinari of Italy has pulled out of the Olympics because of family reasons.

Molinari posted the news on his Instagram account without mentioning any specifics for this withdrawal. That brings to 20 the number of male golfers who have decided not to go to Rio de Janeiro. The sport is back in the Olympics for the first time since 1904.

He will be replaced by Matteo Manassero, who only moved into position as first reserve by tying for third in the Scottish Open on Sunday. That was the final event before qualifying ended for golf. Molinari says he is confident Manassero will do a "fantastic job" in his place.
