Major League Baseball will hold opening day next season in Australia.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks will play a two-game series at the Sydney Cricket Ground on March 22 and 23, baseball's first regular-season games in Australia.

MLB announced next year's matchup on Wednesday, one day after Los Angeles and Arizona brawled at Dodger Stadium.

Baseball opened its season at Tokyo in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. The 1999 opener was held at Monterrey, Mexico, and the 2001 season began in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2001.
