Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton clocks fastest lap of preseason in F1 testing in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain – Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton clocked the fastest lap of the preseason in Formula One testing on Saturday.

Hamilton took advantage of the first blue skies and dry track this week at the Catalunya Circuit by putting in a lap of 1 minute, 20.558 seconds to record the session's best individual time.

Felipe Massa had the second best effort in his Ferrari, seven-tenths slower than Hamilton, followed by Adrian Sutil in his return to Force India.

After one more day of final adjustments in northeastern Spain, the season opens at the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks.
