Fyrstenberg-Matkowksi ousted fifth seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-Ul- Haq Qureshi of Pakistan 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), while Melzer-Petzschner held off an unseeded tandem of Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1 in Friday's semifinals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Melzer and Petzschner captured last year's men's doubles championship at Wimbledon.

Earlier Friday, Bopanna-Qureshi had to complete a 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 quarterfinal victory over Britain's Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins. Bopanna and Qureshi were last year's U.S. Open runners-up to Americans Bob and Mike Bryan, who lost in the opening round here last week.
