(SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Mavericks, armed with a three-game winning streak, embark on a short road trip, starting Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
The Mavs won the final three legs of a four-game homestand, and the last two were especially impressive offensively. Dallas piled up 254 in its final two victories, a 123-70 humiliation of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, and a 131-117 drubbing of the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
Following their largest win in franchise history, the Mavs had eight players score in double figures, shot 55.3 percent from the floor and committed only nine turnovers.
"We were doing some pretty good things in the first half," said Mavs coach Rick Carlisle. "We gave up too much, but it's a good win regardless."
Monta Ellis had a season-high 30 points to lead the Mavs.
Dirk Nowitzki deposited 15 points, while Tyson Chandler netted 12 points with a season-high 16 rebounds and Chandler Parsons added 12 in the win. J.J. Barea led the bench production with 14 points.
Brandan Wright (13), Richard Jefferson (10) and Al-Farouq Aminu (10) also reached double figures.
The Mavericks will travel to Washington on Wednesday to complete the mini trip.
The Hornets returned home from an unsuccessful western road swing. Charlotte went 1-3 on the sojourn with the final leg a 112-87 pasting Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors led nearly wire-to-wire, though the game was tied at 22-22 late in the first quarter and Charlotte trailed just 30-27 early in the second. Golden State began to separate midway through the second, however, embarking on a 25-5 stretch that turned a five-point lead into a commanding 64-39 advantage entering the final minute of the first half.
Klay Thompson had 10 points and Steph Curry eight during the huge run, in which the Warriors hit five 3-pointers.
"There are only a few teams in the league that can get hot like that," said Charlotte center Al Jefferson.
Jefferson had 19 points and Brian Roberts scored 17 off the bench to pace Charlotte. Lance Stephenson finished with 16 points and Cody Zeller grabbed 10 rebounds.
Bench star Gary Neal suffered a concussion against the Warriors and will be out of Monday's game. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is still unavailable with a stress fracture in his right foot.
First-round pick Noah Vonleh made his season debut Saturday after hernia surgery and was held scoreless in just under six minutes.
The two teams split last season's two meetings, but the Mavs have owned this series in recent history. Dallas is 22-2 versus the Hornets, and, despite losing two straight in Charlotte, has a 9-2 record as the visitor in this matchup.
