Lorient, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Marseille stumbled in Ligue 1 play on Tuesday, settling for a 1-1 draw with Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir.

The match started brightly for the visitors as Dmitri Payet handed Marseille the lead in the 33rd minute, but Jordan Ayew brought Lorient level just four minutes later from the penalty spot.

Neither side managed to break through for a winner as Marseille climbs to 35 points but leaves the door open for PSG to climb atop the table with maximum points against Lille on Wednesday.

Nantes remained in seventh place in the French top flight on Tuesday after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Toulouse.

Issiaga Sylla put Toulouse in front in the 24th minute while Jordan Veretout's penalty in the 64th got Nantes back on level terms, but it was Martin Braithwaite's strike five minutes from time that tipped the result in favor of the visitors.

Rounding out Tuesday's Ligue 1 slate, AS Monaco overcame Wallace's 35th-minute red card to get a 2-0 victory over Lens thanks to second-half goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.
