Flushing, NY – The Miami Marlins placed first baseman Casey Kotchman on the 15-day disabled list and recalled catcher Kyle Skipworth from Triple-A New Orleans.
Kotchman left Wednesday's game against the Nationals with a strained left hamstring. This is his first season with the Marlins.
The sixth overall pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Skipworth is up in the big leagues for the first time. The left-handed hitter batted .217 with 21 homers and 63 RBI in 116 games with Double-A Jacksonville last season.
