MIAMI (AP) Giancarlo Stanton's season is not over after all.

The Miami Marlins reinstated the slugger Tuesday from the disabled list, barely three weeks after his season was thought to be over because of a badly strained groin.

Stanton took part in a simulated game earlier in the day, did some baserunning and shagged fly balls. The Marlins announced the move about an hour before they were to play Philadelphia.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly says Stanton - this season's Home Run Derby champion - will only be a pinch-hitter for now.

Also Tuesday, the Marlins activated first baseman Justin Bour from the 60-day disabled list, plus recalled left-handers Justin Nicolino and Hunter Cervenka from Triple-A New Orleans, and outfielder Yefri Perez from Double-A Jacksonville.

Right-hander Kendry Flores was designated for assignment.
