Ichiro Suzuki and Chone Figgins smacked a solo home run apiece, while Jason Vargas tossed seven solid innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Cleveland Indians, 4-1, on Wednesday.

Vargas (2-1) struck out seven and allowed one run on four hits and three walks, while Brandon League picked up his fifth save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Derek Lowe (2-1), who debuted with Seattle in 1997, was touched for four runs on eight hits and six walks in 4 1/3 innings for Cleveland, which had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Jason Kipnis drove in the lone run for the Tribe.
