Gregorio Manzano was named Mallorca's new manager on Tuesday.

Mallorca parted ways with Joaquin Caparros on Monday, allowing Manzano to return for a third coaching stint at the Iberostar Stadium. The 56-year-old, who previously managed at Mallorca from 2002-03 and once more from 2006-10, will have the dubious task of helping the club avoid relegation.

"I know the place and some of the squad," Manzano told reporters. "Moreover, I know the goal. We need commitment to save the team and continue for another year in the First Division. I know this squad, there are players that I have managed before, but I need to analyze it in full. We need players at 120 percent. This squad has the quality and commitment to stay in the top flight."

Mallorca has lost four straight La Liga matches to sit second from bottom in Spain's top flight with 17 points.
