Malaga midfielder Julio Baptista will have surgery Wednesday on a chipped bone in his foot and be sidelined an additional two months, the Spanish club has announced.

Baptista, 30, has been sidelined for most of the season with an injury to his right foot, and now requires surgery to correct the chipped bone.

The Brazilian international, who has previously played at Sao Paulo, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Roma, joined the club on a three-and-a-half year deal in January.

Malaga is sixth in La Liga.
