Rome, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Veteran Roma defender Maicon signed a one- year contract extension with the club on Monday that runs through June 2016.
The Brazil international played a big role in Inter Milan capturing the treble in 2010, while he joined Roma in 2013 following a brief stint at Manchester City.
Since arriving in the Italian capital, Maicon has become a key figure in manager Rudi Garcia's team, starting 28 games in Serie A last term as Roma finished second to Juventus.
The 33-year-old has featured in five of Roma's six games in league play so far this season as the club resides in second place, three points back of Juventus having won five of those six games.
In addition to the one-year extension, the deal also carries an option to be extended for a further season.
