LSU's younger stars like Nola, Bregman, have Tigers rolling into Omaha with confidence

LSU freshman shortstop Alex Bregman predicted before he enrolled in school that the Tigers would be headed to the College World Series this year.

Bregman says he wrote the guarantee on a social media site a year ago — after LSU fell one win short of Omaha — because he knew he could make a difference on an already strong Tigers team.

His guarantee is fulfilled. LSU, now 5-0 in the NCAA tournament and tied for an all-time school high in wins with 57, will play UCLA in the CWS.

Now Bregman, named All American Wednesday by Baseball America, aims to help LSU win its seventh national title.

The Tigers will rely on other young stars as well, including the unbeaten ace of the pitching staff, sophomore Aaron Nola.
