LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell has agreed to a new contract that will keep him with the Cardinals through the 2025-26 season.

McDonnell, 45, had five years remaining on his current deal before receiving the new contract that adds five more seasons. He is 453-189 in 10 years with the Cardinals, a successful tenure highlighted by nine NCAA Tournament berths and three College World Series appearances - including two in the past three seasons. Louisville (47-12), the No. 2 overall seed in this year's tournament, hosts Western Michigan (22-32) in NCAA Regional play this weekend

Athletic director Tom Jurich praised McDonnell in a release Wednesday, saying ''the results have exceeded any and all expectations. In my opinion, he is second to none.''
