Philadelphia, PA – A six-run eruption in the sixth inning allowed the second-seed Cal Poly Mustangs to run away with a 9-2 victory over the third-seed San Diego Toreros in the first game of the Los Angeles Regional.
Clinging to a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning the Mustangs (40-17) would bat around in the inning while getting two-run singles from both Brian Mundell and Jimmy Allen. Mundell went 2-for-4 with four total RBI in the contest while Allen was 4-for-5 with two runs driven in. Joey Wagman didn't need much offensive support as he allowed just a single earned run over eight innings to pick up the win.
P.J. Conlon let up seven runs, six of which were earned, and didn't make it out of the sixth inning as he was handed the loss for San Diego (35-23). Connor Joe and Austin Green each went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
