Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini died after suffering cardiac arrest during the club's Serie B match at Pescara on Saturday. He was 25.

Morosini was taken to Pescara's Santo Spirito hospital where cardiologist Edoardo De Blasio declared him dead on arrival.

"Unfortunately [Morosini] was already dead when he arrived at hospital," De Blasio said. "He didn't regain consciousness."

Morosini, who was on loan from Udinese, fell to the ground in the 31st minute of the match and was treated with a defibrillator. He then was taken to the hospital and the match was abandoned.
