Liverpool midfielder Lucas has been ruled out for the next 2-3 months because of a thigh injury.

The Brazilian sustained the problem in the opening minutes of Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday, and the setback comes after the 25-year- old missed most of last season because of knee surgery.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said that Lucas would be seeing a specialist to determine if surgery was required, while the injury could open the door for loan signing Nuri Sahin, who has joined the club from Real Madrid for the season and who could feature in Sunday's match against Arsenal.
