Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions signed tight end Kellen Davis on Monday.

The Lions are dealing with injuries at the position. Both Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) missed Sunday's 24-23 win over New Orleans, and Brandon Pettigrew finished the game despite a right leg injury.

Davis, 29, was cut by the New York Giants before the start of this season after playing last season for Seattle. He spent his first five years in the NFL with Chicago.

The Michigan State product has caught 50 passes for 561 yards and 12 touchdowns in 95 career games.

Rookie safety Jerome Couplin was released to open a spot for Davis on the 53- man roster.

The Lions also signed wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah to the practice squad.
