Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions have placed tight end Brandon Pettigrew on injured reserve due to a sprained left ankle.

He finished the season with 41 receptions for 416 yards and two touchdowns.

The Lions, who were knocked out of playoff contention with this past Sunday's loss to the New York Giants, could be without several starters for the season finale at Minnesota.

The team practiced Wednesday without wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee/ankle), tight end Brandon Pettigrew (ankle), offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle (ankle), safety Louis Delmas (knee), cornerback Bill Bentley (concussion) and linebacker DeAndre Levy (foot). Running back Joique Bell (knee) was also absent from practice.
