TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos is walking without crutches or a boot two weeks after breaking his right leg.
He met with reporters Monday for the first time since the injury and says he fully expects to play again this season. Stamkos was injured Nov. 11 against Boston. The high-scoring center was taken off the ice on a stretcher after crashing into the post and had surgery the next day.
Stamkos is walking with a limp and says he's "overcome the initial shock and frustration and disappointment." He adds that he now will do whatever he can to get back as quickly as possible, but "obviously as smart as possible."
