TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron to a two-year contract.

Bergeron played in 14 playoff games with the Lightning last season, recording two goals and three points.

"He played particularly well for us during the playoffs and his passing skills as well as shot make him a valuable contributor to our team," Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement Tuesday.

Coming off a knee injury, Bergeron was signed as a free agent on Jan. 4 and assigned to Norfolk of the AHL. He was recalled by the Lightning on Feb. 5 and appeared in 23 games.

Bergeron has played in 422 NHL games with Tampa Bay, Edmonton, the New York Islanders, Anaheim, Minnesota and Montreal.
