Top seed Li Na overcame a sloppy service game to beat eighth-seeded Serbian Bojana Jovanovski 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday and advance to the semifinals at the inaugural Shenzhen Open.

The Chinese star had 10 double faults in her quarterfinal bout, but converted five of her seven break points.

Next up for the former French Open champion Li will be sixth-seeded compatriot Peng Shuai, who rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over German Annika Beck.

Czech Klara Zakopalova, the fifth seed, and Romanian veteran Monica Niculescu will meet in the other semifinal.

Zakopalova upended second-seeded Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli 6-3, 6-2, while Niculescu ended the run for Chinese lucky-loser Zhou Yi-Miao with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph.
