Leverkusen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Mexico international Andres Guardado has agreed to a loan move from Valencia to Bayer Leverkusen for the rest of the season.
Guardado appeared in 16 games in La Liga for Los Che this term, but he moves to Germany with an eye toward making the switch permanent this summer.
The 27-year-old has earned 99 caps for Mexico and he could make his Leverkusen debut as soon as this weekend against Stuttgart.
"It's something special for me now to be able to play in this great European league having played in the Primera Division," Guardado said.
"Bayer have been a top side in German football for many years and they have also been a force in the Champions League."
Leverkusen enters the weekend in second place in the Bundesliga, 13 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, and the club will open its Champions League round of 16 matchup at home against PSG on Feb. 18.
