Steven Lawless scored twice in the span of six minutes at Victoria Park on Saturday to lead Partick Thistle to a 3-1 defeat of Ross County.

Kris Doolan gave the visitors the lead in the 18th minute before Lawless extended the lead with goals in the 53rd and 59th minutes.

Graham Carey pulled one back for Ross County in the 71st minute, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation strike.

The win sees Partick Thistle climb to second place with four points from its first two matches. It sits two points back of first-place Inverness, which rose to the top of the Scottish Premier League table on Saturday thanks to 1-0 defeat of Dundee United.
