Detroit Lions left guard Laken Tomlinson saw his first regular-season NFL action over the weekend. The first-round rookie was far from a finished product in Detroit's 33-28 loss to the San Diego Chargers, but he was able to take away some positives from his performance.

"I felt like there were some good things," Tomlinson said, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "I feel like this game, personally for me, it's a learning experience. It's going to affect the rest of my career and it's going to affect the way I play after this. So definitely, a lot of learning I can do from this game and looking forward to getting better for next week."

Tomlinson allowed a hit on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and earned a minus-3.9 grade overall from Pro Football Focus, according to the Free Press. Detroit brought him along slowly this summer, so he still as plenty of room for improvement.

The Lions will continue to count on Tomlinson's growth as his rookie season progresses.
