New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month and Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu was named the Defensive Rookie of the Month for October on Thursday.

Lacy finished the month with 395 yards on a league-high 97 carries. He scored two touchdowns and had 11 receptions for 47 yards.

The 23-year-old Lacy rushed for at least 80 yards in all four games during the month and is the first Packers rookie running back to register four consecutive 80-yard rushing games. He joins Samkon Gado (November 2005) as the only Packers to be named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.

Mathieu recorded 20 tackles, three passes defensed, a sack and an interception in the month. He joins Simeon Rice (September 1996) and Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie (December 2008) as the only Cardinals to be named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month.
