The Kings are locking up their future.
The team signed forward Tanner Pearson to a four-year contract extension on Tuesday. Pearson's contract will have an annual average value of $3.75 million.
The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Pearson appeared in a career-high 80 games last season with the Kings. He posted career-highs in goals (24; first career 20-goal season), points (44), game-winning goals (5), power-play goals (3), shorthanded goals (1) and shorthanded points (2). The 24-year-old Pearson, afirst-round (30th overall) selection of the Kings in the 2012 NHL Draft, will enter his fifth NHL season in 2017-18.
In a separate move on Tuesday, the Kings acquired a fourth-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft from Dallas in exchange for goalie Ben Bishop.
The Kings will now have eight total picks in this year's NHL Draft, slated for June 23-24 in Chicago.
