Eric Kordenbrock passed for four touchdowns, setting a school record in the process, and VMI held off Glenville State 34-27 in the Keydets' home opener on Saturday.

VMI stopped Glenville State stuffed a pair of running plays from the 1-yard line as time expired to secure the win.

Kordenbrock threw for four touchdowns on 23-of-30 passing for 314 yards. He passed Joey Gibson's record for career completions set in 2002, finishing with 471.

Kordenbrock's final scoring pass, a 10-yarder to Bradley Hann, gave VMI (1-1) a 34-20 lead with 13:27 left in the game. The Pioneers (0-1) responded with Steffen Colon's 36-yard TD pass to running back Rahman Lee with 6:48 remaining. The Pioneers then got to the VMI 1 on their final drive, but the Keydets stopped Lee twice. Lee finished with 146 yards rushing.

The meeting was the first between the FCS Keydets and Division II Pioneers.
