The Chicago White Sox announced Thursday that first baseman Paul Konerko underwent successful surgery to remove a loose body from his left wrist.

Konerko will undergo a follow up exam by a team hand and wrist specialist in Glendale, Arizona, once the sutures are removed in the next 7-to-10 days. He is expected to be healthy for spring training.

The 36-year-old Konerko batted .298 this season with 26 home runs and 75 RBI over 144 games. He struggled over the final two months, hitting just .231 in August and .242 in September.
