Knicks star Amare Stoudemire will sit out his third straight game with a sprained left ankle Tuesday against Chicago and may not play again until the postseason.

Coach Mike D'Antoni says Stoudemire is still not 100 percent, but wouldn't rule him out for Wednesday's regular-season finale at Boston. He says Stoudemire would be ready for the opener of the playoff series against the Celtics, which will be Saturday or Sunday.

The Knicks are locked into the No. 6 seed, so they have nothing to play for in either regular-season game.

Stoudemire was hurt last Wednesday at Philadelphia when he stepped on Thaddeus Young's foot trying to block a shot. The Knicks are 3-0 this season without their All-Star, who averages 25.4 points.
