Carmelo Anthony will spend his extra night off getting some extra rest. He's just following the coach's orders.

League officials have suspended Anthony for Thursday night's game at Indiana. Coach Mike Woodson says the team found out about the discipline Wednesday night after arriving in Indy and that he told Anthony to stay at the team hotel during the team's morning shootaround so he could get extra rest.

The punishment follows Monday's postgame confrontation with Boston's Kevin Garnett. The Knicks star has said he was angry about Garnett's choice of words during a fourth-quarter altercation, went toward the Celtics' locker room after the game and later waited for Garnett outside Boston's team bus.

Woodson acknowledged he also will limit Amare Stoudemire's playing time.
