The Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils were deadlocked at 0-0 after the first period of Game Four of the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals on Wednesday.
The Kings had the first powerplay of the night when New Jersey captain Zach Parise was sent off for tripping but could not beat Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, who produced a couple of big saves to keep the Devils from falling into an early hole.
New Jersey had two powerplay chances in the first 10 minutes but once again were unable to convert, leaving the Devils 0-for-14 with the man-advantage in the finals.
The Kings nearly opened the scoring late in the first period but twice hit the post, including a one-timer by Anze Kopitar in the period's final minute.
The Kings lead the series 3-0.
