If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That seems to be the thinking behind Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant's decision to join the Players' Tribune as deputy publisher.

Durant, who has had a contentious relationship with the media over the past couple years, will work directly with founding publisher and former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.

"I look forward to working with Derek Jeter to build a place where athletes can have our say, feel safe that nothing will be distorted, and give you guys a better look at who we are," Durant wrote on Facebook.

Jeter said Durant has an "important voice off the court," according to the Associated Press.

Durant is expected to start publishing content within the next few weeks.
