On Aug. 5, Brad Keselowski revealed in a post on his personal blog that his daughter Scarlett, less than a month after her May 20 birth, received "a fatal diagnosis."
Keselowski and his girlfriend, Paige White, noticed Scarlett having trouble breathing while at Michigan International Speedway on June 14. A visit to the track's infield care center led to a series of doctor appointments and tests, until doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., diagnosed Scarlett with laryngomalacia, a weakness in the muscles of the throat that's fairly common in infants.
Emergency surgery followed the next day and, by the time Father's Day rolled around on June 21, Scarlett was resting at home, on her way to a full recovery.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was back at Michigan this past weekend, and the 2012 Sprint Cup champion sat down with FOX Sports 1's "NASCAR RaceDay" prior to Sunday's race to talk on camera about those anxious days and what it meant to win with Scarlett at the track on July 20, a month after her surgery.
