New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter night doubleheader against the time games played record at 2,402.

Jeter, now in his 17th season, surpassed the legendary Mickey Mantle, who set the original mark of 2,401 from 1951-68.

It has been a season of milestones for the 37-year-old infielder. Jeter reached the 3,000-hit mark with a home run on July 9 at Yankee Stadium off Tampa Bay starter David Price.
