Toronto Blue Jays starter Ramon Ortiz left Sunday night's contest with the San Diego Padres with what appeared to be a right elbow injury.

Ortiz was injured on a pitch to Chase Headley in the bottom of the third inning, when his left knee appeared to buckle and he came up holding his elbow.

The 40-year-old slammed his glove into the ground with his left hand as the team trainer checked out his pitching elbow. Ortiz appeared to be crying as he walked back to the dugout.

Ortiz was recalled on Saturday when Toronto placed scheduled Sunday starter Brandon Morrow on the disabled list with a forearm strain.

The right-hander had allowed a three-run homer to opposing pitcher Edinson Volquez the inning prior to his exit and was charged with four runs in all.
