Stockholm, Sweden (SportsNetwork.com) - Third seed Jerzy Janowicz and sixth- seeded Benoit Paire landed in the quarterfinals at the Stockholm Open.

The 6-foot-8 Pole Janowicz drubbed Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-1, while the Frenchman Paire handled Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-4, 6-4 on the indoor hardcourts at Kungliga Tennishallen.

A Day-3 upset came when former top-10 star Fernando Verdasco took out eighth- seeded Croat Ivan Dodig 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 6-4 in the opening round.

Two other first-round matches saw France's Kenny De Schepper hold off Swedish wild card Markus Eriksson 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 and Finnish veteran and two-time Stockholm runner-up Jarkko Nieminen outlast German Benjamin Becker 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3).

In some more second-round action on Thursday, top-seeded French Open runner-up David Ferrer will battle American Jack Sock and second-seeded Canadian slugger Milos Raonic will take on Swedish qualifier Joachim Johansson.

This week's titlist will earn $130,000.
