The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran long snapper Jeremy Cain, who played in every game the last four seasons.

The Jaguars went with undrafted rookie long snapper Carson Tinker, a move that will save the club more than $500,000 against the salary cap.

Jacksonville also placed rookie cornerback Jeremy Harris, a seventh-round draft pick, on injured reserve with a back injury.

The Jags waived guard Mark Asper, punter Ken Parrish, cornerback Lionel Smith, linebacker Maalik Bomar, linebacker Jeremiah Green, defensive end J.D. Griggs, defensive end Paul Hazel, long snapper Luke Ingram, receiver Jamal Miles, safety Ray Polk and offensive tackle Roderick Tomlin.

The moves get the team to the NFL-mandated roster limit of 75.

General manager Dave Caldwell says "this is never an easy day."
