Behdad Salimikordasiabi of Iran won the final gold medal of the Olympic weightlifting competition Tuesday, lifting a total of 455 kilograms in the super heavyweight class.
Iran teammate Sajjad Anoushiravani got the silver medal with a total of 449 kilograms to the delight of a contingent of raucous Iranian fans. Ruslan Albegov of Russia finished third.
Defending Olympic champion Matthias Steiner of Germany dropped the barbell on his neck in his second lift and withdrew from the competition.
