Hamilton, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Inverness opened the Scottish Premier League season with a 2-0 defeat of newly-promoted Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

The visitors wasted little time in breaking the deadlock as Billy McKay opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the affair.

Inverness piled more misery on the home side as Ryan Christie doubled the club's advantage in the 25th minute.

It looked as though it would be a long afternoon for Hamilton, but the hosts managed to bunker down and limit the damage.

Motherwell also made a winning start to the new campaign as Lee Erwin struck in the 64th minute at Fir Park to give the club a 1-0 victory over St. Mirren.

Also in Saturday's Premier League action, Gary Harkins and Craig Slater exchanged first-half goals to see Dundee and Klimarnock share the spoils from a 1-1 draw.
