Red Sox manager Terry Francona sounded A Pawtucket.

Youkilis was placed on the disabled list August 18 with a strained lower back.

Francona said Youkilis and J.D. Drew (shoulder) would likely join Triple-A Pawtucket when the team travels to Rochester.

"He's doing real well," Francona said Friday. "He's probably going to go out and get a couple of at-bats Tuesday and Wednesday. They're in Rochester. J.D. will do the same thing."

Drew, who was scheduled to serve as the DH for Single-A Lowell Friday night, has been on the disabled list since July 26 with an impingement in his left shoulder.

Reliever Bobby Jenks, who has been disabled since July 16 with tightness in the left side of his back, will begin a rehab stint this weekend for Single-A Salem.

"Jenks will pitch [Saturday] in Salem then we're trying to move him to Triple- A but there's some things to think about with the weather but there's a pretty good chance we'll get him up to Triple-A," Francona said.
