The Detroit Tigers activated second baseman Omar Infante from the 15-day disabled list on Monday after completing a minor league rehab assignment.

Infante sprained his left ankle in a collision with Toronto's Colby Rasmus during a July 3 matchup with the Blue Jays and was placed on the DL six days later. He spent the last five days playing for the Tigers' Triple A affiliate in Toledo, collecting four hits in 19 at-bats.

The 31-year-old was having a strong season prior to the injury, batting .309 with six homers and 27 RBI in 76 games for the current AL Central leaders.

Infielder Hernan Perez was optioned to Toledo Monday to make room for Infante. The rookie hit just .214 with five RBI in 21 games after being promoted to the majors following Infante's injury.
