Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Ciro Immobile scored a hat trick to help Torino to a 3-1 win over Livorno on Saturday, piling more pressure on the visitors as they continue to battle relegation.
The result snaps Torino's four-match losing skid and moves the team into ninth place, while Immobile takes over the top spot in the Serie A scoring chart with his 16th goal of the campaign.
Livorno remains just one point above the relegation places and will fall into the bottom three if Bologna notches a win over Cagliari on Sunday.
Immobile opened his account in the 25th minute when he got on the other end of a free kick from Cesare Bovo and flicked the ball past goalkeeper Francesco Bardi.
Torino's lead was doubled on the hour mark when Immobile scored on a half volley after combining with Omar El Kaddouri, while he completed his hat trick seven minutes later with a powerful shot from long distance.
Luca Siligardi pulled a goal back for Livorno in the closing minutes, but his side faces a big survival battle over the final nine games.
Saturday's other match saw second-place Roma score a pair of goals in the first half to down Chievo, 2-0.
Gervinho put Roma on top in the 17th minute and Mattia Destro doubled the lead three minutes before halftime, helping Roma move six points clear of third- place Napoli, which faces fourth-place Fiorentina on Sunday.
