The injury bug bit the Fighting Illini again this week.

According to Shannon Ryan of the Chicago Tribune, junior guard Kendrick Nunn injured his thumb in practice on Tuesday. The extent of the injury is currently unknown, Illinois head coach John Groce said on Thursday at Big East Media Day in Chicago

Nunn, who averaged 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season, joins a list of Illini players currently sidelined.

Sophomore power forward Leron Black is out 4-6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery last week. Jalen Coleman-Lands, the teams top incoming recruit, is out with a stress fracture, but is expected to be available for the start of the season. Tracy Abrams will miss his second straight season after tearing his Achilles tendon this summer.

Illinois opens the season on Nov. 13 against North Florida. Five days later, the Illini go on the road to face Providence, a non-conference matchup part of the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games.
