Hurricanes place D Murphy on IR

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Hurricanes placed defenseman Ryan Murphy on injured reserve with an undisclosed leg issue which is expected to keep him out of the lineup for the next four weeks.

The 21-year-old blueliner has split the season between the 'Canes and their AHL affiliate in Charlotte, totaling one goal and 23 assists in 46 combined appearances.
