Time for this week's look at the directions and success of Wisconsin's run game as well as the targets thrown to by Badgers quarterbacks.
We're three games in and a couple of patterns have continued: How the Badgers like to run with Taiwan Deal (inside) and Joel Stave is spreading the ball around a lot more than last year.
Note that for this week, we're leaving Corey Clement off the totals. He'll return to the list once he, well, returns to the field. If you are curious of his directional runnnig totals please check out a previous version. Also, backup quarterback Bart Houston threw one pass this past week, incomplete to George Rushing. If he throws more this season, we'll start including Houston's season targets as well.
For those new to this feature, I re-watch the game and chart each play, but don't track QB runs as they might be unplanned (i.e. scrambles) and/or sacks. Generally speaking, a run middle is over where the center lined up, inside is over where the guard lined up, outside the tackle or just beyond and wide is usually a reverse, end around, etc.

LI = left inside; LO= left outside; LW = left wide (i.e. end around); MID = middle; RI = right inside; RO = right outside; RW = right wide; INT = intended receiver on an interception; LOST/PEN = a complete pass nullified by an offensive penalty; INC/PEN = An incomplete pass nullified by a penalty
