Sturgis, 24, appeared in 14 matches in his first season with Toronto last year and also played in one match during the Nutrilite Canadian Championship.

He debuted in MLS in 2006 with the Los Angeles Galaxy and has also played with Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders FC.

In his six MLS seasons, Sturgis has played 75 matches - including 62 starts - and has one goal and two assists.
