Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon will miss about two to three weeks because of swelling in his right knee, the team announced Friday.

A statement said Gordon's knee swelled after Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia, and doctors recommended rest.

Gordon had already missed four games after bruising the knee in the team's season-opener on December 26. He is in his first season with New Orleans, which acquired him in mid-December from the Clippers as part of the Chris Paul trade.

Not having Gordon in the lineup is a big detriment to the Hornets' offense. He averaged 22.3 points for Los Angeles last season, his third in the NBA.
