MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Bria Holmes scored 20 points and had five steals, Averee Fields added 15 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 24 West Virginia routed Coppin State 83-43 on Saturday.
Teana Muldrow scored 11 points, Lanay Montgomery scored 10 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked five shots, and the Mountaineers (6-1) outrebounded the Eagles 54-38.
Tanaysa Henderson led Coppin State with 13 points and Bria Harris scored 10.
Amber Griffin opened with a jumper for Coppin State, but it was all West Virginia after that. The Mountaineers ripped a 16-2 run, then led 31-8 on a jumper by Fields with 7 minutes to play. Holmes scored 12 points and the Mountaineers led 41-16 at halftime.
West Virginia used a 12-2 run, capped by a layup by Muldrow, to lead 53-20 early in the second half and cruised.
Coppin State finished shooting just 26.2 percent from the floor to West Virginia's 50 percent.
