Sinsheim, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Hoffenheim and goalkeeper Tim Wiese have agreed to part ways with the club terminating Wiese's contract by mutual consent.
Wiese has failed to make a first-team appearance in nearly a year for the club and has spent much of that time training with the youth team.
The former Germany international made 10 appearances for Hoffenheim following a move from Werder Bremen in 2012, but he has since been supplanted by Koen Casteels, who has started 14 of Hoffenheim's 17 games in league play this season.
"This opens up new options and perspectives," Wiese said of his departure. "After what has not been a particularly easy time for me and my family, I can now look forward and consider my future with all the calm I need."
Wiese leaves Hoffenheim despite having a contract that ran until 2016.
